La Meridiana is a blend of two distinct architectures: "New Urbanism" reminiscent of Seaside, Florida, and Victorian architecture of American Fruit Companies that established themselves in Costa Rica in the late nineteenth century.

Combining the best of both styles lends itself particularly well to the tropical climate of Costa Rica’s “Gold Coast.” The use of fiber-cement in construction (similar to that used at the Four Seasons Hotel on Playa del Coco), pristine landscaping dotted with palm trees, circular swimming pools and inner courtyards provide for a relaxed feeling and low-key elegance.
“We chose a light, fresh and cheerful style that brings to mind feelings associated with the ocean, blends with the environment and rescues, in a modern architectural language, a Costa Rican vernacular style”, explains Aimée Joaristi of Joaristi & Barascout, the architecture firm behind La Meridiana.
